A new poll has shown about 50 per cent of Australians have never heard of emissions trading or do not know what the term means.
But despite the lack of knowledge, the survey by Essential Media Communications also found 72pc of people supported the introduction of a carbon trading scheme in Australia.
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has committed Australia to an Emissions Trading Scheme by 2010 and the Government is working on the details, with a Green Paper to be released at the end of the month.
