Rudd run by polling "pimp": Joyce

Rudd run by polling "pimp": Joyce

21 Jun, 2010 09:04 AM
NATIONALS Senate leader Barnaby Joyce has declared that Prime Minister Kevin Rudd operates in a ''philosophical brothel'', run by the ''polling pimp''.

His colourful attack came at the Nationals federal conference, where the party's differences with the Liberals over the Murray-Darling and parental leave were on display.

Senator Joyce said in his address that Mr Rudd had deserted his own people over the emissions trading scheme.

''He seems to be in the sort of philosophical brothel of ideas. It was just another trick between the sheets for Mr Rudd,'' he said. ''Any virtue can be put aside if the polling pimp tells him to do so.''

The conference opposed the last-resort referendum Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has promised to get power over the Murray-Darling. It also called on the Nationals in government to amend the Commonwealth water act to ensure a balance between environmental needs and those of other users.

A resolution urged ''fair and appropriate'' assistance for stay-at-home parents, and a parental leave scheme that balanced the interests of parents, employers and taxpayers.

Queensland senator Ron Boswell, criticising the government's parental leave scheme that passed Parliament last week, told the conference non- working mothers considered their sacrifice was not being appreciated by the community.

Nationals leader Warren Truss said the generous Abbott parental leave scheme was Coalition policy and the Nationals would vote for it. ''What we do believe, however, is that there's need to do something also to assist mothers who choose to stay at home,'' he told the ABC.

Dicky if it's a gutter Barnaby grew up in, wish there was a lot more politicians coming from the gutter.

In answer to td: The same gutter as KRudd is always in and where we will all be if KRudd is permitted to continue his egotistical display of incompetence.

Marvellous use of an attention grabbing one liner to get the Nats conference in the news. Good one Barney. Trouble for Rudd is that he has turned himself into a JOKE. Unelectable.

Barnaby can say what he likes given he'll never be in a position to have to put anything into action.

Barnaby was the most vocal in knocking back the ETS legislation. Therefore Labor was just flogging a dead horse trying to get it through. Once Labor is re-elected and a few conservatives are pushed out, this legislation will finally get through. There is no pimping here Barnaby, it's just common sense. Wait, I've heard you say that before too.

Barnaby is spot on as usual. The only policy this incompetent labour govt has, is to try to get re-elected. If this happens, Aust will soon have a junkbond economy like all of the other labour governed countries.
