Storm season has hit with a vengeance in Queensland, but good rain is also forecast for South Australia, Victoria and NSW in coming days.
Last night wild storms swept through South East Queensland, causing major damage to urban areas, but also delivering good rain to agricultural areas as far west as the Darling Downs and into the Far North Coast of NSW.
According to the latest weather observations from the Bureau of Meteorology, Gympie received 29mm, Beaudesert 27mm, Brisbane 32mm, Nambour 38mm, Redcliffe 55mm, Miles 9mm, Toowoomba 9mm, Oakey 7mm, Inglewood 7mm, and Warwick 6mm.
The system also brought good falls in northern NSW, with Casino receiving 21mm, Grafton Airport 36mm, and Lismore 11mm.
And more good rain is ahead, with The Weather Company's FarmOnline service stating that cloud is now forming as tropical moisture streams into an upper trough that is already bringing storms to eastern WA and the the southern NT.
In WA and Central Australia those storms have already delivered Halls Creek 26mm, Leinster 39mm, Leonora 23mm, Giles 40mm, Warburton 42mm, and Yulara 17mm, while in outback SA Ernabella has received 8mm.
The cloud band extends to SA, southern Qld and northern NSW with a surface trough, bringing thundery showers over the next few days (see maps).
