Nervous Rudd's battle plan to shore up marginals

05 Feb, 2010 08:04 AM
LABOR is preparing to channel additional resources into defending up to 25 seats at the federal election this year as strategists concede they face a battle to retain 16 seats in Queensland and NSW alone.

According to The Australian Financial Review, in preparation for the election, Labor strategists have identified the seats of Flynn, Leichhardt and Dawson in Queensland, and Lindsay, Robertson and Parramatta in NSW as being particularly at risk.

This week, a poll by public relations firm EMC found that up to 50 per cent of those polled could switch sides before the next election.

"Seats right up the pendulum could move," said one government minister. "Whatever anyone says, Abbott has had an impact."

An analysis by The Australian Financial Review shows 14 of the 20 community cabinets have been held in marginal seats and over half of those, eight, have been held in Labor marginal seats that the government must retain.

I'd be real nervous Rudd, especially after your latest contemptous slap in the face you gave to the Aussie agarian warriors!

Lamb Chop start sweating, your day has come. You can't produce spin with no results.

Is this the highest form of corruption? Pushing funds into marginal electorates leading up to an election, in the hope it will 'influence' the voters. Reverse the situation: any funds given/or at least offered to a public official will land you in court !

The sooner we have an election, the better off all Australians will be. Because Rudd and his communists will get thrown out. He hasn't done anything he said he would except have a good time at our expense overseas. His election campaign was a total lie. The only thing he has done is try to force an ETS on Australia which will destroy our constitution and break this country. He only wants to dictate to Australia as a communist leader.

So the 25 seats Labor are going to pork barrel will do well, but who is going to miss out? Surely this is criminal misuse of public money? I know it's been going on for decades but it's still wrong. I was ecstatic when Keating was replaced with Howard, by the start of June that year I was wishing Keating back into the job. KRudd is a waste of air, but will Abbott be any better? I'm starting to think we need to vote for someone other than politicians.

What Kevin needs to do is to get the cheque book out and persuade more academics to publicly support his carbon tax proposals.

Rudd got to power by sheer luck. He won the political lotto simply by being in the labour leadership chair. When the voters grew tired of Howard. The fact that Tony Abbott is a serious threat to him just goes to show how bad he really is.

Yeah, Pork Barrel, it reminds me of all those four-lane highways to to nowhere in National Party seats (or in Queensland's case, to the properties of National Party cabinet ministers). It seems you think it is terrible outcome only when you miss out.

Bushie Bill or City Cecil, I see you're still paying your Labor party membership. Sir Joh was supposed to have done some things wrong they were never proven in court, but growth & prosperity was his middle name. Labor have NO business acumin, financial management, or understanding of rural & agricultural issues. I'll name some for you who buggered Australia financially in their own ways over the last few years: Whitlam, Hawke, Keating, Beattie, Bligh, Lawrence, lemma, Carr & now Rudd who hasn't finished yet.
