After 245 hours behind the wheel of a new 7088 Axial-Flow header, Queensland contractor Steve Broderick says the longer wheelbase translates into a smoother ride.
He singled out, too, the noticeably quieter cab for special mention, noting that operational 'clatter' has been reduced due to spring-tensioned chains taking up the slack within the feeder housing.
Steve, who usually spends between 800 and 1,000 hours a year on his Case IH 2388 header estimates the newcomer delivers up to 20 percent more capacity.
“At the end of the day every acre counts - so if you’ve done another 50 acres in that 15 hour day, that’s a real bonus,” he said.
Meanwhile, Martin Sullivan, speaking at the conclusion of the 7088 Axial-Flow’s 10-day work out of the 7088 Axial-Flow on his family’s Dirranbandi broadace, irrigation and cattle country property, Tooroora, also made mention of its performance credentials.
“During that time it seemed to strip between 6,000t to 7,000t, requiring two chaser bins rather than just one to keep up with it,” he said.
“We’ve been getting up to 10t/ha on our sorghum which is great after a couple of years without anything (crops),” Martin Sullivan added.
