10 Mar, 2009 12:43 PM
Following harvest Australia's storage level of wheat grain reached 15 million tonnes in December, an increase of 13.5 million tonnes from the previous quarter, according to figures released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

It says that of the 15mt, Western Australia's bulk grain handlers had the largest store of all wheat grain at 6.1mt (42pc), while WA also exported the most wheat grain (61pc or 792,000t).

In January 2009, 1.8mt of wheat grain were used nationally, of which 1.3mt were exported and 449,000t were used domestically.

And the ABS says that at the end of January 2009, 4.8 million tonnes of wheat grain were committed for use either for export or domestic use.

Are we growers now able to make calculated correct decisions on marketing now that we have been supplied this earth shattering information - just who do you think that you are kidding Tony Burke? By the way, you are still on track to become Australia's worst ever Minister for Agriculture. Deregulating the wheat industry puts you well out in front. Bringing in live FMD virus will put the icing on the cake!
