In contrast to shares, wheat prices firm again

Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) wheat futures firmed again overnight on Wednesday, with the longer settlement dates firming most.

The Dec '08 contracts lifted by US35.6c/bus, to $US7.25/bus.

And the July '10 contracts lifted by more than this, up by US42.2c/bus, to $US8.20/bus.

All other CBOT grains futures prices rose.

Corn for Dec '08 delivery, for instance, rose US21.6c/bus, to $US5.54.

In Canada, WCE canola is being quoted at $C504.90/tonne.

In Australia, the ASX milling wheat yardstick this morning is being quoted at $A318.00/tonne.

In FarmOnline's grain markets reports, the cash rate for GrainCorp APH2 13pc ESR wheat delivered to Junee, in the southern NSW wheatbelt, is quoted at $381.91/tonne, GST-exclusive.

GrainCorp's Hard 2 10pc ESR stands at $376.01.

And GrainCorp's ASW 10pc ESR is quoted $370.12.
