AUSVEG Ltd has appointed a new board of directors at its annual general meeting held in Melbourne yesterday, following the adoption of a new constitution for the company last month.
The new board will comprise seven state-representative directors, one from each state and the Northern Territory, and up to two skills-based directors.
The state representatives have been appointed as follows:
* John Brent, Queensland (interim chairman).
* Geoff Moar, NSW.
* Romeo Giangregorio, South Australia.
* John Said, Victoria.
* Jim Trandos, Western Australia.
Representatives from Tasmania and the Northern Territory will be determined shortly.
Interim AUSVEG chairman John Brent said he was determined to ensure AUSVEG was at the forefront of the industry, and expanded its membership base to effectively represent Australia’s vegetable growers.
"The board has had spirited discussion regarding AUSVEG's future direction, and it is with due diligence that we assess the skills of the new directors, and then determine the best candidates to fill the skills-based positions," Mr Brent said.
The AUSVEG chairman will be appointed once the remaining positions on the board are filled.
