Prices sold to a slightly dearer trend at the Roma Store Sale in Queensland yesterday k despite a yarding of 12,000 head – the largest so far this year.
Several very good quality lines of steers, heifers and cows created a strong floor in the market and pushed the Roma Store Index up 2.8 points to 106.3 points.
Steers in the 400-550kg range topped at 187c/kg and averaged 174c/kg (+2/kg); steers in the 350-400kg range reached 193c/kg and averaged 176c/kg (+1c/kg); and steers in the 280-350kg range topped at 212c/kg and averaged 184c/kg (+5/kg).
Weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 216c/kg and averaged 190c/kg (+0), while weaners under 220kg topped at 219c/kg and averaged 191c/kg (+1).
Heifers in the 350-450kg range topped at 179c/kg and averaged 169c/kg (+4); heifers in the 280-350kg range reached 182c/kg and averaged 163c/kg (+2); heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 185c/kg and averaged 165 (-1); and weaner heifers under 220kg topped at 186c/kg and averaged 166c/kg (-3).
Cows in the 400-500kg range topped at 168c/kg and averaged 147c/kg (+12), while cows in the 300-400kg range reached 165c/kg and averaged 134c/kg (+17).
Cows and calves sold to $810/unit.
Volume vendors the Murray family, Kindee Pastoral Co, Injune, offloaded 1017 Angus cross, Santa cross and Charolais cross weaner steers.
The 440 Kindee Charolais-cross steers, averaging 332kg, topped at 208c/kg and averaged 194c/kg or $643/head.
The remaining 576 Santa-cross and Angus-cross Kindee steers averaged 350kg and reached 212c/kg or an average of 192c/kg or $673/head.
