TRACTOR owners are being tempted by greater load capacities and higher on-road speeds, courtesy of Goodyear’s expanded Optitrac farm tyre range.
Anyone who treks to the Beaurepaires stand at next week’s Commonwealth Bank AgQuip field days at Gunnedah, NSW, will quickly spot its new Optitrac R+ tyres (pictured), according Goodyear farm product manager, Steve Ryan.
“Featuring innovative tyre materials, a stronger carcass and Goodyear’s Aero Tie-in bead concept, the Optitrac R+ is a modern, high-performing tyre ready for the next generation of powerful, highspeed tractors,” he said.
Goodyear says the new additions to its range can reach speeds up to 65kph against the current tyre with the same load capacity and inflation pressure.
“Alternatively, the tyre can also hold up to 31 percent more load than the standard tyre at a regular speed and tyre pressure,” Mr Ryan said.
Optitrac R+ tyres come with larger air volumes, achieved by reducing the rim diameter.
Goodyear says the larger air volume, in combination with appropriate tyre pressures, allow the tyres to generate extra traction in a wider range of operating conditions.
“Carrying the same load capacity, the Optitrac R+’s ability to generate significantly higher traction at lower tyre pressures, reduces unnecessary soil compaction,” Mr Ryan said.
Meanwhile, Goodyear’s Aero Tie-in technology, derived from its aircraft tyres, is said to ensure its expanded tyre range can transmit high torque and provide increased traction while staying securely anchored to the rim - even with smaller rim diameters.
Already an approved fitment to a wide range of tractors in Europe, Goodyear says its Optitrac R+’s six rear and seven front sizes allow for many different front and rear combinations.
Available from Beaurepaires, Goodyear Autocare, plus selected independent dealers, the company says four additional tyre sizes will follow.
