Ag College student wins Beazley Medal

08 Jan, 2010 12:30 PM
WA College of Agriculture student Andrew Reynolds has won the 2009 Beazley Medal for Vocational Education and Training.

The medal is awarded to the student who has demonstrated the best results for the State in a vocational program.

Andrew attended the WA College of Agriculture in Cunderdin.

Along with the Beazley Medal, he was also awarded course exhibitions and certificates of distinction for animal production and marketing and plant production and marketing and won a certificate of excellence.

Agriculture and Food Minister Terry Redman was the Principal of the WA College of Agriculture in Denmark before entering politics.

“It’s always a great thrill for me to see students like Andrew doing so well,” he said.

“It just demonstrates once again what a fantastic education is provided by Ag Colleges around the State.

“People like Andrew are the future of agriculture in Western Australia. I understand he already has a job lined up with a multi-national farming company.

“I wish him all the best, and I would encourage anyone with an interest in science or business to seriously consider agriculture as a career.”
