Bushfire threat remains for Albany suburbs

14 Mar, 2010 01:54 PM
Fire crews in Albany have worked through the night mopping up after fires which threatened several houses in the suburbs of Robinson and Little Grove.

The Fire and Emergency Services Authority said a bushfire advice remains current for residents.

The fire started yesterday morning after a motorcyclist crashed on Sand Patch Road.

It then spread quickly through bushland in the area.

Residents of the suburb of Little Grove were advised to evacuate their homes while fire crews on the ground as well as water bombers moved in to control the blaze.

They worked through the night to strengthen containment lines.

Sand Patch Road remains closed while Frenchman Bay Road, Princess Avenue and Scrub Bird Road have been reopened.
