Cutting red tape for funding support grants

26 Jun, 2009 05:00 AM
WA Export Developments wants to help ease the bureaucratic nightmare faced by farm businesses and other regional community groups who are looking to gain access to government funding support schemes.

WA Export Developments is a new local business headed by experienced director Phil McGann.

Mr McGann said his company specialised in cutting the red tape out of the application process, for clients looking to access funding offered from a wide variety of government grants.

WA Export Developments specialises in the Export Market Development Grant (EMDG), which provides agricultural producers, including grain and livestock growers, with a substantial rebate that can cover about 50pc of their international marketing costs.

Mr McGann said WA Export Developments had a broader area of business.

The company also helps to link farm industry and regional community groups with other funding grants, specific to their wants and needs.

Mr McGann said it also assisted local governments and other regional community groups wanting funding from the WA National Party's Royalties for Regions scheme.

Mr McGann said millions of dollars in funding was available to regional community groups and businesses, through the Royalties for Regions policy, but not all of it was being taken advantage of.

"WA Export Developments can help achieve access to government funding for small or large community groups that have specific projects in the pipeline, long or short term," he said.

"The projects may be to build a sporting facility or community and business infrastructure.

"However, the applicants may be put off by the red tape involved in the application process or else they are not too sure where their project fits, in terms of the government support available.

"We link our clients' projects to the right funding schemes and assist them with handling the application process."
