Perth has equalled its worst dry spell in 35 years, and with no rain in sight, history could be in the making.
It is the 68th day the city has been without rain, equalling the third-worst dry spell in the city's history, a mark set in 1995.
If, as forecast, there is no rain Thursday, Perth will equal the second-longest dry spell, set in 1885.
But with sunny days predicted well into next week, the record of 83 days, set in 1974-75, could be under threat.
There would have to be no rain falling until February 4 in the Bureau of Meteorology's gauge at Mt Lawley for the record to be broken.
