Perth to post hottest January on record

26 Jan, 2010 07:08 AM
WITH Tuesday forecast to hit 33 degrees and another week of hot east-to-northeast winds, Perth is all set to have it's hottest January on record.

Perth only hit 30 degrees on Monday, slightly below average, but this was one of it's cooler days of the month.

Twice this month the mercury has blasted the previous record for the hottest January day, both times falling just short of 43 degrees.

The river-side city has also broken another record: the temperature has topped above 41 degrees this month three times, a feat not seen in the 16 years of records for any month.

The only relief in sight is when a cold front clips in over the weekend, and even then the thermometer is expected to tap 31 degrees.

The thermometers have been shifted so the temperatures are not from the same place. The fudging with figures that has been occuring with Climate gate could well be happening here. The hottest temperatures recorded have been in the early 1930s.
