Perth has certainly had a dry run, with 110 days of almost totally dry weather. The only drop in the last three months was half way through January, where the city officially recorded 0.2 millimetres.
Today, though, is showing some hope. Thunderstorms just missed Perth yesterday, although some suburbs did see a drop or two. But right now, potentially severe storms are making their way south, about 20 to 30 km from the city.
A Severe Weather Warning is current for parts of the Central West, Great Southern, Central Wheat Belt, Gascoyne, Lower West and Perth Metro districts. Already, Badgingarra has been slammed by a 117 km/h gust and 14 millimetres of rain in just ten minutes.
Residents of Perth are perhaps excited about the good prospects for rain with these storms, but are reminded that these storms may damage property with flash flooding, strong winds or large hail.
