PERTH yesterday experienced a hot and dry day, with the thermometer nudging 41 degrees at lunchtime as a high lingered in the Bight.
People from Perth are no strangers to extreme heat, but they rarely experience 40 degree-plus weather for three days in a row.
The forecast for today and tomorrow is continued extreme heat, with the mercury climbing over 40 degrees two more times before a weak change arrives.
There is little chance for a reprieve from the heat, "The Doctor" is out of his office. Pushed out by a ridge of high pressure that is edging its way just south of Perth, sea breezes are simply not strong enough to overcome the strong inland winds generated by the heat trough along the coast.
Temperatures are expected to drop to the low 30's by Thursday.
