WAMMCO has made a management restructure which has resulted in its chief executive Scott Weir being made redundant.
The board of WAMMCO made the announcement on Monday, with former WAMMCO chief executive Coll MacRury, who is currently the managing director of WAMMCO's NSW operation at Goulburn, appointed as the co-operative's new group chief executive.
WAMMCO chairman Dawson Bradford said the directors had confirmed the restructure at a meeting last week.
"The moves were necessary to bring WAMMCO's operations in the two states closer together," Mr Bradford said.
"It will immediately strengthen and facilitate cost benefits and efficiencies in both businesses."
Mr Bradford said the Goulburn facility had exceeded expectations and it was time to bring the two operations together.
"The next step is to pull the two together to get greater efficiencies in scale," he said.
"Not only in staff but in consumables."
Under the arrangement Mr MacRury will continue to be based in Goulburn, but will travel to Perth for one week each month.
Mr Weir, who is from New Zealand, was appointed WAMMCO chief executive on July 4, 2011, replacing Mr MacRury.
