Free market lobbyists, the Pastoralists and Graziers Association have slammed the decision of the new WA government to retain the Grain Licensing Authority for the marketing of coarse grain.
"Labor Minister Kim Chance fought all efforts to remove the GLA even after it had outlived its usefulness - as he did all sensible efforts to introduce GM cropping technology," Mr Bradley said.
"Mr Redmond has made this decision without consulting key components of the industry.
"Had he done so he would have found that the GLA was incurring unnecessary expense, was acting as a barrier to trade and was restricting competition – all at a time when barley prices for example are in global free fall.
"WA graingrowers will be hoping that this is not a sign that much-needed reforms to our industry are going to be lost in a return to the costly agro-politics of the past," Mr Bradley said.
"Our new WA Minister will not be able to claim his decision is in the best interests of WA producers.
"The only benefits will accrue to our producer counterparts in the Eastern States who have now removed all GLA-type impediments."
