A BLONDE matron cow with twin bull calves stole the spotlight when it sold for a top of $7750 at the inaugural Blonde d'Aquitaine Western region elite female sale last week.
The Amaroo, Corolin and Superior Blonde studs provided 12 females for the sale, ranging in age from 10 months to eight years.
The studs enjoyed a good attendance for the sale, with interested onlookers staying after the highly successful field day to hear the final results.
Nine of the 12 lots of females on offer were snapped up by buyers at an average price of $3617.
The sale grossed $32550.
The top price was paid for Amaroo Vesti, a powerful, deep bodied cow with twin bull calves at foot.
Amaroo Vesti was sired by Amaroo Taurus and out of Heytesbury Sussan. Bidding for the eight-year-old matron was fierce until the Clifton family, West Gingin, secured the sire above Tasman Doornbusch, Harvey, for $7750.
The second highest price of the sale was paid for seven-year-old Amaroo Wilma and her Banya Nomad bull calf.
Amaroo Wilma's heavily muscled, lengthy frame caught the attention of Lily and Tom Garbelini, Dardanup, who bought the cow for $5000.
Amaroo Wilma was sired by Amaroo Upmarket and out of Amaroo Upbeat.
