AS grey clouds threatened to create a storm outside the Brunswick Selling Complex on Thursday inside it was a quality line-up of white, burly Charolais bulls which created a storm of their own at the Inaugural WA Charolais Bull Sale with buyers pushing prices to a high of $8250 twice.
With 40 buyers registered, from as far north as Broome to Albany in the south, prior to the sale competition on the bulls was strong and as a result Elders auctioneer Don Morgan and Landmark auctioneer John Wirth had very little trouble drawing bids from prospective buyers.
When the final lot was knocked down 37 of the 43 bulls offered had been sold for a solid $4270 average.
In comparison at last year’s Farm Weekly WA Supreme Bull Sale, where most of the vendors offered bulls, 48 bulls sold from 56 offered at an average of $4495.
Both Mr Wirth and Mr Morgan agreed it was a solid result for the breed’s inaugural sale and both buyers and vendors would have gone home happy.
The $8250 equal top-priced bulls were both sold by the Yost family’s Liberty stud, Tooday.
The first Liberty bull to make $8250 was Liberty Future Direction (P) in lot eight when it was knocked down to the Downunder stud, Wooroloo, while the second bull, Liberty Full Throtle (P), was purchased by Dean and Kate Ryan, Central Stockcare Pty Ltd, Bullsbrook.
Both bulls were sired by Liberty Below Zero (P).
