QUALITY was the order of the day at the Landmark special female sale at Boyanup last Friday, when 193 mated heifers and cows were ring sold, with stud stock auctioneer, John Wirth, Landmark Perth, officiating in the rostrum.
Bidding was steady, with better support on the heifers with early calving dates, while buyers showed their preference for proven breeders by lifting the heat in the bidding considerably on these excellent breeders.
The heifer portion reached $1200 while the older cows topped at $1250.
The highest priced heifers, five Angus cross mated to Angus to calve from February 2, were offered by L T Armstrong, Busselton, and bought by Chris Waddingham, landmark Capel, for BE & BD Mitchell, Donnybrook for the top of $1200.
The mated cows were mainly from Kelly-Brae, Gelorup, with these magnificent matrons attracting animated competition to realize well above the vendors expectations.
The top of $1250 was paid by Landmark Albany, for six Angus cross second calvers.
