Win a bull or $5000 worth of super potash

16 Jan, 2010 01:00 AM
THE lucky Farm Weekly reader to win this year's Farm Weekly-Monterey Murray Grey and Angus stud's Win-A-Bull competition will get the choice of a Monterey Murray Grey or Angus bull or 10 tonnes of super potash 3:1 fertiliser, valued at around $5000 courtesy of CSBP.

CSBP market development manager for pastures Kirk Reynolds said the fertiliser was the company's most popular product and the winner could collect the fertiliser from any CSBP depot or works throughout WA.

Farm Weekly readers are encouraged to fill out the entry form appearing in this week's edition and the editions leading up to the Monterey bull and female sale at Kojonup on Wednesday, February 10, 2010.

The winner will be drawn at the Monterey sale, so entry forms must have been received by Farm Weekly by Tuesday, February 9, 2010.

It's extremely important to remember that to win this competition, the drawn winner must be present at the Monterey sale to claim the prize.

Monterey stud principal Gary Buller said the previous year's Win-A-Bull competitions have been well supported and he acknowledged Farm Weekly and CSBP for their support and enthusiasm for the initiative.

"This is the first year we have had CSBP involved in the competition and not only does the $5000 worth of fertiliser gives breeders a great option to bull, but it keeps the focus on pastures and better beef breeding," Mr Buller said.

He said over the course of the competition's 10-year history, only one winner had taken the product over the bull.

"This indicates the high standard of bulls selected for the draw," Mr Buller said.

"The winner gets the choice between a Murray Grey and Angus bull and whichever is not selected is auctioned and in the past these have sold anywhere between $4000 and $5000.

"Other winners have been at the sale buying multiple bull lots and the Win-A-Bull has allowed them to bid on top line bulls where otherwise their budget would have restricted them."
