JOHN Deere this week gave its approval to the biggest machinery dealer acquisition in WA.
A new company, Greenline Ag, will immediately take over the operations of John Deere franchise holders Ag Machinery (Wagin and Lake Grace), Dugald Ferguson (Narrogin) and Powertrak (Boyup Brook).
Greenline Ag also has foreshadowed the acquisition of Pingelly Machinery, Pingelly, in December.
Greenline Ag directors Mike Hutton and Blue Charlesworth will assume the daily responsibilities of the existing businesses, with former Carnamah John Deere dealer principal Hal Walton in a consultancy role as well as chairing Greenline board meetings.
Mr Walton, who retired from T and H Walton Stores three years ago, assisted in the financing of the purchase of the acquisitions by Greenline.
He declined to give the purchase price for each franchise holder and only said that he had a financial interest in Greenline Ag.
“I am exceptionally happy to assist two former employees who gave me 14 years of outstanding service,” he said.
“And I’m happy to see some young blood in the industry to strengthen the new direction of the farm machinery business and particularly the John Deere dealership group.”
