DE seed cleaner is the king at $78,000

21 Mar, 2010 01:00 AM
DESPITE a cloudy morning, the sun shone on the TF and SH Sugg clearing sale at Lake King last week, with a DE Engineering seed cleaner topping the sale at $78.000.

Elders auctioneer Don Morgan was kept busy throughout the day with a sale list that included something for everybody, particularly in the large area assigned to sundries.

The range of machinery also suited the budgets of discerning buyers.

The larger tractors sold well, with a New Holland TM175 FWA going for $57,000; a Ford Versatile 4WD on duals wasn't far behind at $51,000 and an elderly International 4586 4WD, with a heart transplant in the form of a 855 Cummins motor, made $6400. A wide selection of harvesting equipment was on offer including a Case 2388 (9.1m, 30ft, 1010 front and trailer) selling for $71,000; an International 1480 header (9.1m 1010 front and trailer) making $5100 and a New Holland 8070 (7.9m, 26ft front and trailer) knocked down for $5000.

Another high-priced item was a 12.2m (40ft) Grizzly 108 Field Boss tandem disc plough which started a bidding tussle between two would-be buyers, resulting in a sale for $76,000.

An emphasis on grain was evident, firstly with a 26T Norrish chaser bin which sold for $48,000, following on from the keen bidding for the field bins, where two 45T Brereton round field bins made $10,000 and $9500 respectively while two 36T Sherwells made $2800 and $2500 and a trio of 23T Stearne bins fetched $850, $700 and $350 respectively.

A row of tractors for the budget conscious buyer was offered including a Chamberlain Champion 9G FEL ($2800); an International 686 FEL ($800); an International 866 tractor on singles ($1050) and an International 1086 on singles ($1300).

A good selection of trucks also was available.

A Leyland BX5-51 6 x 4 tipper with 8.1m (26ft) tray made $8000, followed by three Fords, a F600 with diesel motor which sold for $1600, a D series which made $2050 and a K series which fetched $1050.

Two boomsprayers were offered with a 24.3m (80ft) Hydra Boom with 5000L tank selling for $21,500, while a Hardi 3400L tank and trailer with 24.3m (80ft) trail-a-boom made $4100.

The grain bins achieved a mixed result, with a couple of Jetstream five-in-one bins making $3500 and $2000 respectively while two old Cole bins sold to the same buyer only made $450 and $100 respectively.
