IT was smiles all round last week when the Bindoon Catholic Agricultural College received the brand new Case IH 6088 harvester it ordered from Boekeman Machinery in Northam.
Bindoon Catholic Agricultural College farm manager Kevin Marshall said the farm team was delighted with the new addition to the farm.
"We've always dealt with Boekeman Machinery in Northam for years and so logically, it was a red machine," he said.
The Axial-flow Case IH 6088 harvester has a cleaning system area of 5.1m2, a grain tank capacity of 10570 and 330 max horsepower.
Mr Marshall said students and staff were excited about the new header, selected for its superior technological attributes.
"Basically it's the brand spanking new model out, it's the model Boekemans have supplied us, and it's fantastic to get into the state of the art," he said.
"The students who are around during harvest will get to have a crack at it."
The new harvester won't be staying shiny for much longer: the college has 320 hectares of canola to swath in the next 10 days to two weeks, before it starts harvest.
The new header will also harvest 320ha of wheat, then around 80-90ha of milling oats.
