Winners are grinners in Leica competition

21 Mar, 2010 01:00 AM
LEICA mojoMINI field and street navigation systems will be finding their way to three lucky Farm Weekly subscribers at Duranillin, York and north Gingin courtesy of Leica Geosystems and Farm Weekly following the drawing of Farm Weekly's latest prize giveaway.

The three units, each valued at $1925 including GST, were won by Ian Saunders, Duranillin, Bryon Micke, north Gingin and Colin Luelf, York.

The Leica mojoMINI can be transferred from tractor to tractor, or tractor to on-road vehicle in minutes providing flexibility and value.

Each unit comes complete with a Leica SmartAg antenna with GLIDE technology for improved field accuracy and connects wirelessly to the Leica mojoMINI display for a quick and easy installation.

Mr Saunders, who only entered farming in recent years with his partner Carol Royal, was over the moon with his win.

"I started buying the paper about three years ago when we bought the Duranillin property and began subscribing at Christmas time," Mr Saunders said.

"I was hoping to win the eight Angus heifers in your previous competition.

"That didn't happen but we are still keen to get some Angus."

The couple are currently running sheep and cropping either oats or canola but admit livestock is their preference.

"We love the stories in Farm Weekly, especially ones about livestock and machinery and the classifieds," Mr Saunders said.

Mr Saunders was one of many who also entered online through www.farmweekly.com.au and said the guidance system would be a great help on his tractor and on the road.

North Gingin farmer Bryon Micke was understandably surprised with his windfall, because he was unaware his wife Kay had put an entry in for him.

Mr Micke runs a self-replacing Merino ewe flock for wool production on 526 pasture improved hectares.

He has been buying Farm Weekly for 30 to 40 years and began subscribing about 10 years ago.

"It's a great read covering the whole of the industry and it really keeps you up to date with prices, in particular sheep, wool and machinery" Mr Micke said.

Leica Geosystems business manager AusPac, Glenn Clarke, said his company was delighted to be involved with this joint Leica Geosystems and Farm Weekly giveaway competition for the third year running.

"The competition provides a great opportunity to promote our new Leica mojoMINI lightbar guidance system and we look forward to hearing feedback from the lucky winners," he said.
