THE wool market re-opened after the two week Easter break on a steady note this week.
With 8000 bales offered in Melbourne on the first day of trading this week, prices generally remained firm to a shade stronger with the eastern market indicator (EMI) gaining three cents overall to 770 cents per kilogram clean.
Just over five per cent of the offering was passed in as the Australian dollar was trading at US70.2 cents.
All Merino microns traded at single figure gains to the last sale, with the 19.5 micron gauge lifting seven cents to 865, the 22 micron indicator also lifted seven cents to 730 cents.
Major buyers included Techwool trading, Australian Merino, Kathaytex and Fox and Lillie.
A total of 58,000 bales were rostered for sale across this week.
